Angelina – Musee du Luxembourg // Paris

Angelina is one of the most renowned patisseries in Paris, it’s also pretty well known outside of France, especially in Japan (the country where Paul Bocuse has a restaurant chain). Angelina has been founded in 1903 by Austrian confectioner Antoine Rumpelmayer. He named it in honor of his daughter-in-law, Angelina. Hot chocolate “L’Africain” and Mont-Blanc pastry, whose secret recipe remains closely guarded after one hundred years, are their signature offerings.

Angelina is in a some kind of annex building of Luxembourg gardens with a transparent facade. It is more meant to be practical and welcoming then luxurious.

Selection might seem limited at first but bear in mind that all desserts are masterpieces. We always struggle to choose. First timers might want to get started with the famous hot chocolate.

Angelina has also some savory offerings in their menu. As simple as it may sound, the croissant is one the best you can taste.

Choc African chocolate brownie, made of African pure dark chocolate mousse and bitter dark chocolate cream. This might be my all-time best chocolate dessert. And this means a lot.

110 years cake is chocolate biscuit with crispy praliné and caramelized pear covered with a dark chocolate mousse. If you like pear and chocolate and pear, that’s your destination.

Definitely a reasonable fare for a complete chocolate satisfaction.
